The public can now easily lodge complaints on the health services if they have any. The Ministry of Health and Medical Services ‘Health Customer Care Call Center’ will begin operation tomorrow. Health Minister Rosy Akbar has made it clear that they will not respond or act on criticisms and complaints made against their services or staff on social media. Akbar says all complaints must be lodged via toll free number 157, which will be operational on a twenty hour basis. “As of tomorrow if any Fijian who has any issue with the services they receive at any of our health facilities, this help line is the best way to get your issues solved. My Ministry does not trade in rumors or gossips. We cannot respond to criticism that is levied against our staff on social media or in print because to do so we would violate every standard in responsible hospital management and jeopardize the confidentiality of our patient information.” The government has allocated more than two hundred thousand dollars for this initiative.
